Data and AI
We pride ourselves on being a data-driven company, leveraging the power of data to drive innovation and to guide our research and development.
Data and algorithms are at the heart of our work, and we prioritise maintaining high standards for our data. We ensure that our data follows the FAIR principles, which means it is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. This approach makes our data analyses and algorithm development, and thus product development, efficient and reliable.
We handle sensitive human data with great care, adhering to GDPR guidelines to protect and secure this information. Our goal is to create algorithms for clinical use, which involves navigating the complexities of artificial intelligence.
We use the AI-act framework to ensure our work is accountable, robust, reproducible, transparent, and fair. We pay special attention to biases and their impact on clinical decisions and equitable access to healthcare. To this end we are collaborating with DAIKi (https://dai.ki/) to ensure full aI-act compliance.
Continuous improvement is a key part of our philosophy. We strive to enhance both our algorithms and our internal data processes. To support this, we have developed SpecimensDB, a system that helps us manage and utilize our data effectively. At Ophiomics, our commitment to data-driven methods ensures that we deliver accurate and impactful results in the field of clinical research and development.
SpecimensDB
Managing collections of biological tissues and associated data and metadata poses a familiar challenge for research groups, bio-repositories, and companies engaged in clinical studies. It often begins as a straightforward task—collecting a small set of samples for a specific purpose. However, as the collection grows, complications arise. Each sample comes with varying consents, diverse conditions, and different levels of metadata. Before long, what started as a simple endeavor turns into a tangled web of data.
We developed our own data warehouse – SpecimensDB—a homegrown solution born out of necessity. SpecimensDB streamlines tissue management by centralizing data related to sample acquisition, consent, and metadata, providing clarity and control over the collections.
