Bioinformatician/(Bio)Data Scientist for Precision Oncology

Ophiomics is an ISO 13485 certified medtech company developing precision liver medicine solutions. 

We are advancing a portfolio of biomarkers and decision algorithms for different liver diseases, from end stage liver cancer and transplantation decisions, to early stage asymptomatic conditions. 

 

We now wish to recruit a Bioinformatician/(Bio)Data Scientist to join Ophiomics’ R&D team. 

Job description includes: 

  • Data analyses in support of our R&D efforts, in particular of internal and public DNA/RNA data. 
  • Data management.
  • Development and optimisation of decision algorithms integrating clinical and molecular variables based on machine learning. 
  • Characterisation of the performance and robustness of algorithms/methods. 

Core skills 

  • MSc or PhD in bioinformatics or a related field 
  • Applied omics data science across NGS, with a focus on cfDNA or ctDNA 
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning, statistical modelling, and data mining 
  • Proficiency in Python and R 
  • Fluency with Linux command line, shell scripting, and workflow tools 
  • Pipeline engineering with Nextflow or Snakemake, containerization with Docker or Singularity 
  • Good software practices, Git, unit testing, code review, documentation 
  • Clear communication with wet lab and clinical teams, ability to write methods and reports 
  • Working knowledge of English 

Nice to have 

  • Understanding of liquid biopsy, cancer genomics, or tumour heterogeneity 
  • Experience with assay specific methods in cfDNA, copy number, methylation, or fragmentomics 
  • Knowledge of annotation resources, Ensembl, RefSeq, COSMIC, ClinVar, gnomAD 
  • Experience with APIs, REST, and JSON workflows 
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, or HPC environments 
  • Familiarity with clinical or regulated settings, SOPs, audit trails, data security, and privacy 

We accept applications at any level of graduation (MSc or PhD) as long as you tick the boxes above.  

You will integrate the R&D team of Ophiomics and participate in the development, industrialisation and validation of new in vitro diagnostic products. You will report to the scientific director. This is a full-time position that requires exclusive dedication. Salary will depend on experience.
